Tarragon - 17" Hand-dyed unique paper fur Artist Bear by Emma's Bears - OOAK
Tarragon
By Emma and Mark Nicholson
17" (43cm)
This ridiculously unique teddy has been made from some very unusual Schulte German 'paper fur'.
This fabric was a nod to the manufacturing initiatives that teddy-fabric producers were required to undertake during the war years; when sourcing materials like mohair became particularly difficult. In response to this limitation, a unique fabric was produced with a pile made of extremely high quality paper, still providing the fluffy, textured effect of mohair at a time when regular mohair fur just couldn't be produced.
The particular fabric these bears have been made from is a more modern reproduction of this interesting piece of history, and we have hand-dyed this piece in a gorgeous teal blue-green. The fabric itself is surprisingly durable, exceptional quality and has a unique texture that makes for a standout piece in any bear collection.
Tarragon looks out through a pair of classic black glass eyes with faux suede eye whites, and has a hand embroidered nose in a darker teal DMC Perle cotton. His cheeks have been made from our stunning long ivory alpaca, giving an interesting textural point of difference. His hand and foot pads are cut from a matching teal faux cashmere and feature some 3D toe shaping and shading.
Tarragon is fully T-pin jointed and well stuffed with a combination of polyfill and a decent helping of steel shot. He wears a classically simple satin ribbon around his neck (fully removable).
This bear is a one of a kind artist bear.
(He and his rainbow sibling 'Treasure' are the first bears we have ever created from this unusual fabric, and will also possibly be the last! Treasure is available in her own listing).
